Our program is designed to prepare participants for immediate employment in the automotive industry, with a strong emphasis on practical skills, safety, and professionalism.

Automotive Technician (AMT) Training

Learn to diagnose, maintain, and repair modern vehicles using advanced tools and technology.

Automotive technicians are the backbone of vehicle maintenance and repair. This program covers:

Engine diagnostics and repair
Brake systems, suspension, and steering
Electrical systems and computerized diagnostics
Safety procedures and customer service

Training duration: Approximately 18 weeks.

Physical Requirements of Automotive Technician Training (AMT):

Lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs
Stand, walk, bend, and twist for extended periods
Use jacks, hoists, and power tools
Strong manual dexterity and coordination
Good vision, hearing, and cognitive skills

Cost听

There is absolutely no cost to participate.
This training is fully funded by the State of Rhode Island through Real Jobs RI and RI DLT.
All materials, instruction, and support services are provided free of charge.听

Program Schedule听

Start Date: TBD

Schedule: Monday through Thursday, with occasional Saturdays听听

Session Length: Up to 5 hours per day, starting at 3:00 or 4:00 PM听听

Location: New England Institute of Technology (specific campus details provided upon acceptance)
Attendance: Mandatory for all sessions听

Eligibility Criteria and How to Apply

Eligibility Requirements听
To qualify for this opportunity, applicants must:听
- Be a Rhode Island resident听
- Be unemployed or underemployed (working part-time is acceptable)听
- Be 18 years of age or older听
- Possess a valid Rhode Island driver鈥檚 license听
- Be willing and able to accept a suitable job in the industry upon program completion听

Selection Process听

Admission to the program is competitive and includes the following steps:听

1.) In-Person Information Session
Learn more about the program and complete a written assessment.听

2.) Skills Assessment
Demonstrate your aptitude for hands-on work in a practical setting.听

3.) Individual Interview
Meet with program staff and possibly industry leaders for a one-on-one interview.听

4.) Mandatory Orientation
If selected, you must attend a pre-class orientation to prepare for success.听
