Department of Public Safety
The Department of Public Safety strives to provide a campus community conducive to living, working and studying by ensuring a safe and secure environment and promoting intellectual, social and personal growth in accordance with the academic goals of the University.
Our Director of Public Safety, Pamela Moffatt-Limoges, who joined New England Institute of Technology in 2017, has over 40 years in the field, including serving as a member of the Rhode Island State Police, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant in 2008. After retirement from the RI State Police, Director Moffatt-Limoges served as the Associate Director of Public Safety at Roger Williams University. In 2017, Director Moffatt-Limoges became the Director of Public Safety at New England Institute of Technology.
Under Director Moffatt-Limoges’ tutelage, the Department of Public Safety (DPS) provides a range of services, from emergency response and event security to walking escorts, safety awareness training, and patrol. DPS also maintains a state-of-the-art building access control system for Meltzer Residence Hall. DPS ensures that the University community remains a safe and secure place in which to live, work and study.
ÃØÃÜÑо¿Ëù Public Safety Officers receive bi-annual in-service training to stay current with policy and procedures that include active threat response. Each officer receives certification from the American Heart Association, adult CPR, child and infant CPR, AED (automatic external defibrillator), first aid and Narcan.
Public Safety Dispatch is located at the East Greenwich campus in the Gouse Building on the 1st floor near door # 2 in room S111A. The Department of Public Safety is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by trained public safety officers. The Department of Public Safety Officers are responsible for enforcing University policy and procedures and they are trained to investigate crimes and policy infractions that are committed on campus.
